FISHING METHOD ------- jigging

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Rapala #9

NOTES --------------------- Tad hungover from the X-mas Dinner Dance the night before. Had to meet Dan McCarthy to pull my boat for the season at 2 pm so decided to give it an hour. Kevin S. & Fred N. were there already and said it had been pretty slow. As soon as my bait got to the bottom (45') I hooked up. Yelled over to the other guys, "That didn't take too long" and started reeling in a real nice fish. After I got him about half way up he really started fighting and I could tell he was a big fish. He ran me around the boat two times so I figured it was a striper. Was really enjoying the moment and thinking "Now this is the way to end the season" Just as Fred and Kevin pulled up to check out the action, the fish made another hard run under the boat. Don't know if my drag was too tight or the hangover was to blame but he broke off. I went from feeling fantastic about ending the season with a nice fish to a "this really stinks type mood". I had cleaned everything out of my boat and didn't even have another lure. Still had a little time left so I borrowed a jig from Fred and gave it another shot. A few minutes later I got into another and soon boated a nice fat 6 pounder. Not as nice as the first one but a good consolation prize. Now if the lake freezes solid by next weekend I'll be fine. Happy Holidays to everyone and see ya on the ice.
