DATE ---------------------- 9.6.12
TIMES --------------------- 10am till 3pm
CONDITIONS ------------- calm, little rain, warm
AREA FISHED ------------- Chestnut point north to Byrom
WATER TEMPERATURE-- 76-77
FISHING METHOD ------- live lining and slip bobber
BAIT/LURES USED ------- herring
NOTES --------------------- Got a late start due to boat issues but caught a nice 21" smallie right away followed by two smaller fish. Eventually caught another nice smallmouth in Byrom and a couple more in the pound, pound and a half range. Caught a nice largemouth and then a hybrid. Then hooked a big fish that I thought at first was a big walleye, but after 15 minutes of really hard fight, I somehow managed a 40" tiger muskie to the net without breaking my 10lb test line or pulling my small hook.
But the strangest catch happened out in the middle of the lake as I almost hit what I thought was a muskrat. Thinking it odd that a muskrat would be out there I went back and this drowned rat looking thing came swimming right at my boat. This exhausted little squirrel was happy to climb into my extended net and accepted a lift to the other side. Not sure how he got out there, but I don't think he would have made the trip accross.
