DATE ---------------------- 10-19-13
TIMES --------------------- 9:00am till 12:00pm
CONDITIONS ------------- Calm at first then windy sunny - partly cloudy
AREA FISHED ------------- Wood port area
WATER TEMPERATURE-- 62 degrees when left
FISHING METHOD ------- Jig and crank baits
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Strike king 1/2 oz black and blue with a rage chunk
NOTES --------------------- As mostly everyone knows the water at the big H is down close to 5 ft. Actually look forward to the draw down as no more fishing pressure and pleasure boaters. Used my little Jon boat to get on the water at one of the marinas. Fished weed lines that are now easily exposed and caught 5 largemouth nothing big with the largest 2/12 lbs the others around 2 Lbs. caught a few yellow perch. Had to leave much earlier than expected as my trolling motors stopped working. Had to row back luckily with the wind. Still areas of 10 ft of water and the ice fishing should be great in these spots when it happens. Saw lots of perch following cranks. Fish will be concentrated.

DATE ---------------------- 10/3/13
TIMES --------------------- 10:30 am till 5pm
CONDITIONS ------------- cool, sunny little wind out of the north west
AREA FISHED ------------- points and weed lines
WATER TEMPERATURE-- 68
FISHING METHOD ------- anchored with bait
BAIT/LURES USED ------- herring and night crawlers
NOTES --------------------- got a little bit of a late start because of bad accident on Rt 80, but finally started at the point accross from Dow's with no action there. I moved to Byam Bay and fished the weed line with small herring and night crawlers and got a decent Walleye and some nice perch. I went over to Cow;s tongue and Pine Tree with no luck. Finally went back to Great Cove around 4pm and put 3 lines in with herring and worms and all three went immediatley. I only landed one striper around 4 pounds. Fished just one line for the next hour and killed them. Many big fish and I weighed a couple over 7 lbs. Just when I hooked a big fish, a nice couple came by and watched me land the fish. The woman offered to take a pic but she had a new phone and had trouble with it, finally getting the pic. But the fish had to go back in quickly so I didn't weigh it, but it was considerably bigger than the 8 pounder I caught the week before. At 4:45 the fish dissappeared just like that. The boat is being pulled tomorrow, so a fitting end to the season.
